ArtWriting Turkey: Online Exhibitions and Arts Journalism on Online Artworks

Mixer is taking the events of ArtWriting Turkey to an online platform, which is an initiative started in 2013 in order to support art criticism and arts journalism in Turkey, as well as the young and emerging art critics.

During this period in which lives are fit in houses due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a great deal of art content can be reached online. Many exhibitions can be experienced in digital, and it is possible to get involved in different online talks through preplanned meeting links. How are art critics, who are evaluating and critiquing these exhibitions, are approaching to this process? According to writers, what are the things that should be paid attention to in order to enhance our online art experience? What have been the positive and negative outcomes of online platforms whilst defining or interpreting art without having seen it in real life?

“ArtWriting Turkey: Online Exhibitions and Arts Journalism on Online Artworks” workshop, taking place in collaboration with Hatice Utkan Özden (Arts Journalist and Museologist) who has worked in the field of arts journalism and criticism, Selin Çiftçi (Unlimited Publications, Digital Publishing Coordinator), Kültigin Kağan Bulut (Editor of the Susma Platformu- Founder of Argonotlar.com) will bring together participants interested in various disciplines, from arts journalism to art criticism. It encourages one to think on arts journalism using the opportunities of the internet, which recently has become our new regular routine. The writing pieces of writers who will participate in the workshop happening on April 11, Saturday will be taken into evaluation. Those selected will be published on platforms including  unlimiteddrag.com, Argonotlar.com, Speak Up and Mixer.
