Sheding a new light on collecting art!
Mixer Editions makes it easier to access the works of many local and foreign artists and the digital editions of their certified reproductions. Thus, giving both new collectors and art enthusiasts another opportunity of purchasing affordable original art works, additionally giving the artist further exposure.
What is Mixer Editions? And how does it work?
In general, galleries offer digital works to collectors, institutions and museums, at high prices in large format, single-print or three to five printed photographs. For whom desires, printing a piece of art looks like the most accessible alternative, whilst museum shops offer bulk production of printed art it does not go beyond masterpiece reproductions. This is where Mixer comes in addressing the problem offering, to collectors and art enthusiasts, Mixer Editions.
Mixer Editions emerges with more than 20 local and foreign artists’ work, making over 400 signed limited editions work available. The number of editions per work varies from 5 to 100 but keeping within its mission, Mixer Editions offers these original works of art affordable prices from 60TL - 1750TL. The main purpose of Mixer Editions is to offer wide-format art photographs at museum-quality prints of digital works and reproductions to art enthusiasts at affordable prices.
What are editioned art works?
Where an edition of a work is indicated, it shows the format size and the maximum number that can be re-produced, normally set out by the artist. If a work has just 100 editions then that piece of work can only be printed up to a maximum of one hundred times (except copies of artist). All prints are signed. The aim is to restrict the sales to a certain number to preserve the authenticity of a piece, and also to allow the “ownership” of work not to be distributed to more than one person, which in turn, allows art enthusiasts to purchase original pieces of work at an affordable price. To give an example, the person who owns a photograph, which has a maximum reprint of up to 75 editions, therefore means the value and the rights to ownership of the piece is shared amongst 74 different people.
What does a certified work of art mean?
A certified piece of art comes with a certificate of authentication, courtesy of the artist, who ultimately owns the work. However, a piece of art produced more than once is represented with a legally binding document representing it as intellectual property with implications for reproduction without certification. This legally binding document indicates that if illegally reproduced the owners win moral and material value, in accordance with the status and development of the artist and the current art market. In addition, thanks to this certificates legal power, the work that is owned is categorised as a genuine piece of art, differentiating it from posters and other artefacts.
When buying a new piece of art, naturally you ask yourself a number of questions, such as; “‘Will it be suitable to my current home decor?”, “Will it complete my collection?”, “What works, what style, and what framework should I choose?”, “Which hanging system, and how to show it practically?”. Mixer Editions is a project that aims to find the answer to all of these questions.
What is Fine Art print and what is the type of paper used? How to be How to choose the way it is presented?
Mixer Editions offers its audience four very different types of finished product. The work can be delivered in various ways, but all are certified Fine Art prints, on the frame, on stretched canvas and as diasec.
Fine Art Print: A feature that is available for each product. Mixer Editions team and the artist of the piece work together to select the most appropriate paper, based on the size, colors and structure of the visual work. After the preparation of the paper the image is printed on the Canon iPF8100 printer. After this stage, the work is shaped according to the preference of the purchaser.
Frame: Many different options are presented to the buyer such as black, white, colored, plastic, wood, simple glass, unglazed, museum glazed glass with matt and glossy finishes available.
Diasec: Permanently applies the pressure on aluminum diabond which is obtained by coating them with a transparent plexiglass to end up with a modern and widely used method of presentation.
Canvas: Print on canvas stretched over a wooden frame where the photo becomes a painting.
For each option above, the Mixer Edition team offers free consulting, and does its best to satisfy both the artist and the buyer offering the most convenient and fastest plan.
Price range and sizes.
Mixer Editions’ selection consists of work priced between 150 TL - 9000 TL, size 25x25 cm – 118,9x84 cm. Mixer Editions, each work in collaboration with the artists to decide the size and edition number. The price is dependent on the artist and the content of the artist’s work, the size etc… For example, a certified reproduction of an original oil painting would be less than the original work, which is naturally reflected in the price. This price is divided by the number of editions. To define, if the price of a work is 10.000 TL for the original oil painting size at 100x100cm, 50x50cm an edition of one of the dimensions, the price is calculated as 5,000 TL. If it is determined that the number of editions is 50 it can be obtained at a reasonable rate of just 100 TL per edition.
After reaching 60% sale of available editions of a work, the work enters the ‘Top Sellers’ category and the market value increases, for this reason naturally editions’ price rises. As a result, the first investment made by the buyer is increasing in value.
