Ahu Akgün

Mixer project room will be hosting Ahu Akgun’s solo exhibition “Sebeb-i Ziyaret’’ starting from September 12 until October 31, 2020. By perceiving the gap between the physical and the mental distances, the artist forms new connections between her relationships, what she sees, along with the things she misses; and searches ways to close this gap with painting. The exhibition reflects the artist herself, the relationships she has, her studio and her life; while inviting the audience to rethink the idea of “distances” in their own lives.

Ahu Akgün was born in Istanbul in 1985, she graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and got her master’s degree from Sabancı University Visual Arts and Communication Design. In 2019 she won the first place at the Akbank 37th Contemporary Artists Prize exhibition, with her piece “Underdog-4.” The artist currently continues her work in Istanbul.
